Journey back to Sniper Base, Brad (Solo)

After the meeting on the beach when Brad met team sniper and was welcomed aboard he took a trip for a couple months. Brad felt that he was not up to Team Sniper standards so he went to his Uncle for more training and to make some money to help fund his Zoid. Over the course of his visit with his Uncle he trained extensively in many areas of battling with his Lightning Saix, which was still relatively new to him. Now, a couple months later of hard training, Brad felt that he could handle his Zoid much better so his team could count on him instead of worry about him.

Brad had a long journey home from his hometown back to the Sniper base, but he was ready to see his team and to catch up with Nicole who he has been neglecting since he began his training. Well, he was hoping she would want to see him at least. Nicole could not understand why she could not see him during training and has been upset with him. He is done now and is ready for his life to get back to normal. Anxious to get back, Brad, set his alarm for four in the morning to head back on his two day journey to base. He said goodbye to his Uncle the night before so he would not wake him.

Buzz....Buzz…Click as Brad hastily hits the alarm off button and lets out a groan. Four AM has never come so quick to him before. He jumped out of bed and stumbled to the shower to help him get woken up. After his shower he walked down the stairs to find an envelope on the table. Brad opened it up to find $3000 cash and a note from his uncle thanking him for spending the time at his place and for the work he was doing for him. Brad smiled and made his way outside to Jax. He did some last second checks to make sure Jax was ready for the journey home, and loaded the rest of his gear and then took off.

The two day journey back to base is tough with the terrain being mountainous in some parts but mainly because of the chances of rebel Zoids attacking lone Zoids. All these factors were running though Brad’s head and with his new training and the incredible speed of his Lightning Saix he had confidence he would be okay. He just would have to stay on his toes.

After traveling for several hours Brad decided he better call up Nicole to let her know he was on his way home. Amazingly she answered first try but she was not very happy with Brad after the long absence away. Brad spent the next hour convincing her that he had to do what he did to be a successful pilot and she would be more proud of him. After she cooled off she told Brad she wanted to meet up and see him. Brad being a day and a half away still told Nicole he needed to get back to base to check in at the least and told her she could either meet her at the Sniper base or he could come there in a couple days. Nicole decided to meet him at the base and they ended the call for now. After hanging up Brad kicked Jax into high gear to make some real time.

Brad down the road a ways bolted past a very small, dumpy town and right outside of the town there was a Saber Cat and a Helcat camped out. The pilots were hanging out by a fire as they watched Brad blow by them. Brad, not thinking anything of it continued down the road.

The Sun was setting and Brad was getting tired. He had been on the road for almost 15 hours that day and Jax needed a break. So, they stopped at the next town. There was a hotel there and Brad checked in and immediately fell asleep. What felt like fifteen minutes turned into around 8 hours as the alarm clock sounded and Brad woke up. After another quick showered rolled by with the sound of one of his favorite beats on the radio Brad was ready to head out for the last leg of his journey. If he was on schedule he would arrive at base around 9pm that night and Nicole should be there waiting on him.

At around noon Brad decided to take a short cut through a large, dense forest that if he could get through with no problems could cut maybe two hours off his trip which could get him home around seven. He decided to do it and headed into the forest.

About half way through his video phone rang and it was base just checking in to see how far he was away. Brad began to talk to everybody since he had not seen any of his team members for a couple months and all of a sudden a shot was fired and hit Brad’s Zoid in the back quarter causing some damage (30DP). His call was disconnected and Brad shot his Zoid around to see two Cats emerge from the tree line. Quickly Brad realized it was the Helcat and Saber Cat from the day before. Almost suddenly as they appeared a voice came over the radio, “If you want to live, get out of your Zoid and hand it over to us. It now belongs to us.”

Brad as they are talking to him slowly lines his Zoid up with the Saber Cat which doing so lined up the Lightning Saix’s laser cannons. Brad answered back, “What makes you think I am going to hand over my Zoid to two lightweights like yourselves?” Quickly the pilot in the Helcat answered, “You are out numbered and way too young to be able to handle such a Zoid.” Brad Smiled and quickly flipped to the offense and fires the laser beam cannon for a direct hit on the Saber Cat causing 60 DP and badly damaging its front left leg and bringing the cat down to the ground. Almost immediately after the Saber tiger was hit the Helcat fired off two shots and Brad dodged the shots. Brad, not sure where to go decided to try to get out of the forest as quickly as possible so he could open up the true speed of Jax and blow the Helcat away.

With tree flying by like they are standing still and the Helcat right behind him, firing shots frantically all over the place Brad is getting nervous with all the obstacles to get around and decided to start to regenerate his armor (30 DP subtracted). Then the Helcat fired a shot and hit a tree and it fell right in front of Brad. Brad’s high speed did not react in time tripped up on the tree. This gave the Helcat the advantage and allowed him to get caught up to Brad. Brad, thinking quickly brings Jax to his feet and decides that he is going to have bring down this Helcat before he got into more trouble when the Saber tiger makes his way to where they are and outnumber Brad once again. That is if the tiger can even get up!

With the Helcat charging directly at Brad, Brad lets loose a pack of shots from the shot laser repeaters which directly hit the Helcat multipe times on the head causing heavy damage (60DP) but before the shot hit the cat, the cat fired a shot and it nailed Brad right next to the cockpit and causing some damage to the top part of the shoulder of Brad’s Lightning Saix. The damage from Brad’s shot knocked the Helcat so hard off track the Helcat plowed into a tree which caused more damage. Immediately after the Helcat went down the voice of the pilot came over the radio. He said. “Alright! Alright! I give up! Sorry we won’t bother you anymore.” Brad answered back, “You are scum and you do not belong. People like you are what is making the world a bad place.” To make sure the Helcat was out of the battle for good Brad fired the laser beam cannon round right to the body of the cat which caused around 70DP and decimated the remaining armor. This shot did a system freeze to the Zoid and knocked him out. Brad quickly to get out of there shot out of the forest and radioed to the police to come clean up the mess in the forest and to arrest the rebels.

After doing so, Brad got out to assess the damage on Jax and luckily with the Nanotech regenerating armor there was not much damage and Brad could get home without worries. Brad jumped back into Jax and started the remainder of his trip. He also immediately called base to let them know what happened and that he was okay. He only had roughly 4 or 5 hours left to his journey and even though he got hung up with the rebels Brad still came out an hour ahead of schedule with the short cut.

Brad several hours later rolled up to base and Nicole was standing there waiting on him. She ran up to him and threw her arms around him and all of her anger melted away. They walked inside and Brad introduced her to everybody that was around and after a long two days they retired to his quarters and Brad began the story of his trip to Nicole.

After a three day break at base Brad felt that he was recharged from his tough journey. Even though Brad could not just sit around doing absolutely nothing, Nicole and he had a good time hanging out with each other. The last three days consisted of showing Nicole around base and letting her check out the rare Zoids in the hanger and catching up with what he missed in her life as well as everybody else’s life around base. Also Brad spent a chunk of a day inspecting Jax to make sure that he was ready for whatever lies ahead for them.

The weather outside was unusually terrible for this time of year and Nicole was planning on leaving the next day. Brad, a little unsure about how she will be getting there decided that he better make at least part of the trip with her if not the whole trip. She happily agreed because she was pretty into Brad and this would give her more time with him and at this point Brad cannot promise when he will be able to see her next. Brad and Nicole started packing gear to be able to get an early start in the morning and then hit the hay.   

The alarm clock started to kick out the amazing sounds of classical rock at five in the morning and without realizing it Brad reached over and hit the alarm off button and turned back over and fell asleep. About two hours later, Nicole smacked Brad and told him that it was seven a.m. Brad in a daze, got up and tripped over his t-shirt on the floor and make a beautiful display as he tumbled into the bathroom. Nicole laughing as they got dressed then they made their way out to the Hanger to get into their Zoids. Brad walked around the base and noticed that either everybody had taken off or they were in bed so he made sure the premises were secure. Also while he was walking around he noticed that there was some coffee left in the maker, so he stole the rest along with a doughnut that was left out for somebody as he made his way to the exit.

   Brad and Nicole started their day trip to Nicole’s as they made their way through the unforgiving weather. “The weather should not be that bad after we get around these mountains”, said Brad. Nicole responded, “Good, I hate traveling in this kind of weather. You cannot see anything.” The two scaled the mountain pretty quickly as the weather began to clear and they could actually see what was surrounding them. The hard half of the trip was behind them and it was smooth sailing from here on out.

   As they arrived at Nicole’s there was an unexpected visitor, Nicole’s ex again Scott. He had been waiting on her for a couple days at this point and he was not happy. Nicole and Brad jumped out of their Zoids and walked up to him. Scott did not recognize Brad because Brad was in his Lightning Saix and not his uncles Liger Zero and became very nervous because of the critical beat down he had already received from Brad. Brad with a smirk, looked at him and said, “Wow. Hey Scott, I cannot believe you are out of jail.” Nicole then looked at him and said, “Scott, what are you doing here.” Scott pissed looked at her and then at Brad and said, “I came back to be with  you but its obvious your with someone else now.” Brad, stunned by how dumb this guy was said, “And you are realizing this now? I thought we already went over this a couple months ago when I kicked your butt in that battle.” Scott ignoring Brad said, “I will be here for a few days. If you would please reconsider taking me back I will be at the Hotel.” As he walked away, bumps Brad’s shoulder and said, “You better watch yourself. I have gotten better and I will take you out since you do not have your Liger anymore.” Nicole shook her head and in disbelief walks into her house with Brad right behind her.

Nicole and Brad sit back and crunch on some popcorn while enjoying an old movie when all of a sudden they heard a knock at the door. Nicole opens it, and it was a letter from Scott telling her to meet him tomorrow for breakfast at 9 at the diner down town. Not sure what to do, glance over at Brad and Brad shrugged his shoulders and told her to go just to hear him out and to tell him on an adult level that they cannot work out. He said he would be a phone call away in case anything would happen. So they hit the hay after the movie.

The next morning Nicole headed down to the diner to meet with Scott. Scott seemed to be together. He was not acting like a jerk nor was he acting weird. So, they began to enjoy the meal then half way through the meal two guys pulled up in a van and Scott grabbed Nicole as the three guys poured in the door. They then grabbed Nicole and all three jumped into the van and took off. In the process Nicole was able to call Brad and left the phone on in her pocket so he could hear what was going on. Brad ready to tear some guys up jumped into Jax and opened Jax up to catch up with that van.

After a quick catch up, Brad saw the van in the distance as it turned behind this very large building on the outskirts of town. Adrenalin pumping Brad kicks Jax into high gear and whips his Zoid around the building. When Brad got around the corner he was facing Scotts Helcat along with one of Scott’s buddies Zoids, a command wolf both with large cannons mounted on top. Brad quickly realized he fell into a trap and was in trouble. He turned back around the building to get out of the immediate fire from the two zoids. As soon as he flipped Jax around both Zoids took off after him. Brad had to be able to get the Zoids one on one to be able to stand a chance so he did a 180 and flipped the Lightning Saix around and as soon as the command wolf came into view around the corner Brad lined up his laser cannon and fired for a direct hit on the side rear/leg (70 DP) knocking the wolf down. Right before the Helcat kicked around the corner and Brad started to take cover by a nearby building where there were no people.

Scott, not sure where Brad went fired a couple of shots to scare Brad out. Some of the debris hit Brad but did not cause any damage. Not sure what Scott was thinking, Brad circled around and got behind Scott and opened up with a Laser cannon shot and hit Scott in the rear shifting the Helcat sideways (70 DP). Quickly Scott jumped to the defense and started firing shots hoping one would connect. Brad dodged one of the shots that came close and rushed up and tapped the trigger to his double laser repeaters for a double front shot to the Helcat. To follow it up Brad rushed up and used the Lightning Saix alloy teeth to crunch a bite out of the Helcat also in the process battered the cat with his claws. After that, Scott had nothing left and had to retire from the fight. Brad, with the laser cannon aimed right at Scott asked, “Where is Nicole.” Scott answered, “She is in the building, just don’t kill me.” Brad contemplating whether to finish this scum off decided to call the local authorities to take him down town again. This time he will not be getting out for a very long time and next time Scott will not be so lucky that Brad let him live.

Brad headed to the building and opened up the door to find Nicole tied up. He walked in and untied her. She threw her arms around Brad like she had not seen him in years. Brad picked her up, and carried her to Jax. Then they headed to her house. Brad suggested that she better go stay somewhere else so she would not be alone for a while. She decided that she would head to her friends house where her where Brad stayed for the first time with her. Brad, exhausted headed to bed so he would be able to head back to base tomorrow to prep for his hopeful up and coming battle with a fellow Lightning Saix. He had a lot of work to do and was hoping some of his team mates would help him out before the battle started.

20 RP credits. The story was fine, but you really need to work on sticking to one tense in your writing. Mostly the RPers on here use past tense (i.e. "The cow jumped over the moon"), but you may use present tense (i.e. "The cow jumps over the moon") in your personal RPs if you'd like. However, choosing only one tense will help the content to flow more smoothly and you will avoid confusion among your readers by using just one. Keep on truckin'.
