It was suggested to me that names of the creators not be included in the poll as to make things more impartial, so I figured I give it a shot. I have also prevented the viewing of votes until the poll closes. The poll will remain open for 5 days so everyone please vote.
Outcome
1st Place: Chevelle Bentley 2nd Place: Andrea Zephlyn 3rd Place: Lara Jean
Hardened Alloy Neck Armor plating reinforced with talonite for striking foes. It has a wide reach and can deal blows without draw backs for the pilot. 50dp
Twin EMP Burst Horns The horns can be charged to emit a strong burst of electromagnetic energy over a one mile radius. The EMP is capable of disabling both stealth systems and targeting systems. Zoids within closer range risk other system damages. Other Zurapha Gunners are immune to this attack. 30dp and risk of stunning in close range, nulls stealth and targeting systems for one round.
Shoulder-mounted 25mm Chain Gun An automatic cannon that operates in a fashion similar to a machine gun. The motor is located at the base of the neck for both power and support. 70dp
History: Zurapha Gunners were also developed by the Republic, though far into the later years of the war. They were primarily utilized as back up support for larger units, as snipers and a last line of defense. Later on, pilots charged Zurapha Gunners far ahead on the front lines, using their height for intimidation and activating their EMP capabilities out of range of their own side. They proved themselves as skilled close-range combatants. After several incidents that question to stability and balance of the Zoid (for once fallen, it was nearly impossible to regain footing) and lack of adaptation to varying battlefield elevation, the Zurapha Gunner was retired from combat.
In recent years, however, engineers have modified the Zoid's stability, thus making is a trustworthy and steady choice for pilots everywhere.
Raysello / Jellyfish Type Internal Slots- 2 Speed- Water 16 / Air 8 Heat Index- 35 CPU Slots- 1 Agility- Water 30 / Air 14 External Hard points- Main Tentacles x2 (1 per tentacle) Armor- Body: 120 / Main Left Tentacle: 60 / Main Right Tentacle: 60 / Auxiliary Tentacles x4: 20
This zoid was an early prototype design for creating a self-sustaining zoid that did not rely at all on the use of any sources of external fuel or un-recyclable energy to run. The idea of this was first coined by a wealthy Hammerhead pilot who became conscious about the carbon footprint that he was creating to the planet. The idea was sent to a large zoid manufacturing company and "Save our planet" campaigners rejoiced world-wide. With such positive reactions the company saw no reason not to make such a zoid, even if they felt it to be more of a novelty.
The Raysello is a moderately sized zoid, with its external chassis coated with ray absorbing panels. These panels take in sunlight for the zoid to use as a power source to augment the energy its core can naturally produce. An interest side-effect of these panels is that they would also absorb energy from energy based weapons, giving this zoid a competitive edge also. In the air, the Raysello is propelling by anti-gravity thrusters implanted the body and each tentacle. Also to note, this zoid has no head, instead the cockpit is placed deep within the body. Because it is placed so deep, the body is a perfectly legal target in a battle.
Specials
Ray Absorbing Panels Panels all over the Raysello's body absorb light and beam energy and converts it into power. 30% of damage from all energy based attacks is absorbed into the zoid for use as power. 1dp will convert into 1 unit of energy. This will also absorb 3 units of energy per action from external light sources.
Explode Bite To use this attack the Raysello must first charge energy into its mandibles. Then, when the Raysello bites into an opponent, the energy stored in the Raysello will be discharged into the opponent's zoid, causing an internal explosion. As the energy is discharged into a zoids internals, it will bypass any forms of defensive measures. The pilot may control the charge of energy to prevent making the zoid run dry. 120dp, requires 2 feats to charge. During each charge feat the pilot can convert any number of energy units into the attack. 1 Unit of energy will add 2dp to this attack once it is fully charged. Unaffected by defensive items
Strike Laser Tentacle Another charged melee attack, akin to the strike laser claw and the strike laser talon, but this time adapted to the form of a jellyfish. The tentacles are insanely articulate, being some of the most flexible weapons known to a zoid. Also, the two main tentacles cover a large distance, making it an almost ranged melee attack. 80dp, the pilot may convert any number of energy units to increase the damage of this attack. 1 unit of energy will add 1dp to this attack.
External Hard points: Body: 3 (1 on each side / 1 Back); Limbs: 4 (1 on each leg) Armor: Head: 20 / Body: 80 / Legs (x4): 40 / Tail: 20
Specials:
Burrow Its front claws are fitted with laser and can burrow through anything to allow for strategic purposes of evasion. It can travel underground for up to 4 actions but cannot attack normally.
Sonar Pulse Released from the mouth is a high frequency attack that causes the terrain to erupt in almost a miniature earthquake and can be used even when it is underground. Charging it increases the lethality of the attack No charge: 20 Damage Points Two action charge: 30 DP and stuns opponent for 3 actions; un-blockable by shields. Twice per battle
Stealth 20mm Energy Blaster Mounted on the nose is a hidden cannot so opponent’s aren’t guarded for the initial attack 70 Damage Points
Production Origins:
By no means was the Digole originally designed for combat. Its early prototypes were primarily constructed for excavation: used for softening up the soil, clearing out underground and even building tunnels. It then transitioned for archaeological purposes where it was used to dig up remains and possible ruins located around Planet Zi.
However, the discovery of use during war and combat in general was accidental. As no line of defense during one of the wars, Digoles were forced to be used and their contribution proves useful. Now, they remain being used for combat and more practical methods, as their digging capabilities enable them to move underground for stealth maneuvers. It also pioneered the first few zoids capable of attacking underground.
Type: Half-horse/half-eagle Internal Slots: 2 CPU Slots: 2 Speed: 14 Land / 17 Air Agility: 28 Land / 34 Air Heat Index: 20
External Hard points: 8 Body: 2 Wings (x2): 1 each Legs (x4): 1 each
Base Armor: Head: 15 Body: 75 Wings (x2): 20 Legs (x4): 20 Tail: 15
Specials: 1) Nitro Boosters- This boost in speed, given by nitrogen reserves in a wing compartment, offers increased evasion abilities to an already agile Zoid. +5 speed, lowers opponent’s accuracy by 30% Lasts for 4 actions; can only be used once per round, two rounds per battle
2) 50mm Repeater Gun- A back-mounted turret gun that can fire in every direction. 50 DP
3) Sonic screech- A screech of sonic proportions is emitted from the beak of the Zoid, producing harmful sound waves that can either stun or, in some case, slightly damage foes, depending on the vicinity of the opposing Zoid. Can only be used twice per round Stuns opponent for two actions from most distances, can also do up to 20 DP if released extremely close to opponent
History: The Hippogriff’s history is a vague one indeed. However, most people believe that the hybrid Zoid was a result of illegal research and testing being done in the production of crossbreed Zoids. As the story goes, there was a company by the name of Huh using regular Zoid repair and production as a front for running a black market illegal Zoid trading ring. One of the company’s entry-level workers in the brainstorming department was known for having a soft spot for mythical creatures. When he first suggested the Hippogriff, his blueprints and designs were dismissed as impossible. His continued persistence in the matter, however, eventually caught the eye of one of his superiors, who then took the idea to production analysts. The pioneering scientists were intrigued enough to attempt his design, and so the Hippogriff was born.
Its illegality was soon overwhelmed by its immense popularity in the Zoiding world. Pilots were eager to test out the one-of-a-kind Zoid, which was known for its extreme agility, both on land and in the sky, due to the nature of the hybrid. The unprecedented structure of the Zoid, coupled with improvements in metals and other production materials, had allowed for the scientists to experiment with new styles of wing attachments, thereby introducing a more human-like flexibility to the joint. This increased the Hippogriff’s wing mobility greatly, which not only allowed for quicker take-off and flight, but also dissolved the problem of attaching additional weight in the form of parts and weapons, because the Zoid was better able to keep itself in the air.
Eventually the pilots’ determination to have the Hippogriff available for use led to the ZBC’s rare approval of a hybrid-type Zoid. It has since gone back underground, this time in ZBC-approved testing and production facilities, to undergo further analysis and, it is alleged, mass production. It is rumored to be scheduled for release sometime in the near future.
